CECILE, SISTER CLAUDETTE (Marie Claudette) entered eternal life on Wednesday, the feast of St. Anne, July 26, 2017 at Villa Angela, Chatham, Ontario.  She entered the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham in 1971. 

During her religious life she served as a teacher in Stratford, Chatham, Blenheim and Strathroy.  She spent over 15 years in Chiclayo, Peru sharing her gifts and passion for life and remained there until August of 1995.  She returned to Canada for health reasons. 

She lived in London from 1997 – 2002 and then Windsor from 2003 until 2009.  While in Windsor she was the night supervisor of resident students at Academie Ste. Cecile International School.  In 2009 she joined the Villa Angela Community in Chatham where she made her unique and lively contribution to the Sisters. 

She was born in 1950 in Windsor, Ontario, the daughter of the late Ernest and Yvonne (Morand) Cecile. 

She is survived by siblings, Catherine & Anthony Butcher,  Pierre & Sue Cecile, Yvonne & Sabino Romeo, Gisele Cecile as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.   

Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, 20 Merici Way, Chatham. 

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela. 

Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.  Donations in memory of Sister Claudette may be made to “Chatham Ursuline Charities”, 20 Merici Way, Chatham, Ontario N7L 3L8 or to the charity of your choice.
