My heartfelt condolences . Jan was a mentor to me many years ago as I started my nursing career. She had a big heart , fantastic sense of humour and a legendary singing voice. She could always bring a smile. May she rest in peace.

Costa, Matthew and family - My sincere condolences to all of you on the loss of a beautiful soul! Working with Jan was always a special shift! She taught me lots and most especially how to be a great caregiver to the elderly. She was a wonderful nurse who could get a laugh out of anyone with that laugh of hers. Although her health posed many challenges for her, she wasn’t a complainer! You always knew where you stood with Jan but you could count on her telling you kindly! I often chuckle about things that happened when we were working together and will cherish those memories. I’m so sorry I couldn’t attend her service but you were all in my thoughts! I worked with Jan on the Medical unit in Chatham years ago, she was a wonderful nurse and fun to work with. Condolences to the family.

Heaven gained a gentle soul. When people talk about the sweetest and kindest people they know, Jan was it for me. She was truly one of a kind. One of the best. Will miss her but will never forget. There’s a reason she has one of the most fitting nicknames, Mama D.

My condolences to you. The memories I have of Aunt Janice always make my heart smile. Her infectious laughter, her Daffy Duck voice and her fun loving spirit captivated me as a youngster. One of my favorite, and I have many memories of her is when she would visit us in London ,ON she would take us to the corner store and allow us to pick out some candies. She'd say " pick one " when we couldn't decide she'd say "okay, get both " and laugh. She loved the ocean water and would float for hours, I even remember when she fell asleep out on the raft and got second degree burns on her shoulders . She even taught me and my sister ,propted up on pillows to drive around Aunt Dawns house one summer. Her fun loving , carefree spirit will be missed. Hugs sent to you Aunt Janice.

While we didn’t have the opportunity to get to know MamaD well, we feel like we knew her a little through Matt and the stories he shared over the years. I’ll always remember that she sent little gifts to our son when he was young, even though she had never met him. That kindness and thoughtfulness says so much about the kind of person she was. Jim had the opportunity to go to her home once and remembers that she made him eat pie, and more pie. It was good pie. (It was but I knew the fact that I ate a lot and truly liked the pie got me in her good books :) ) From the stories Matt tells it’s clear she filled her family with love, laughter, and was more than capable of keeping a bunch of teenage boys in line. The kindness, generosity, and sense of humour we see in Matt are a wonderful reflection of his mom. Our deepest condolences on your loss.

Heartfelt condolences to all the Dacosta Family, Words cannot express how much we will miss our dear Jan.She has left us all with so many great memories...from our yearly drives to Sarnia enjoying some poutine and ice cream under the bridge or her favorite Chinese at the golden crown..and we cannot forget the life of the party at our nursing reunions,just celebrating our 50th this past year.We will miss you Jan,but will continue to honour you every year and try to remember a funny story or two...as told by the great Mamma D. Sorry to hear of the passing of Janise, she will be surely missed by anybody she came in contact with. I knew Janise, my sister was married to her brother, the late Vaughn Daly. I met Janise when she was a young girl. Always had a big smile on her face and always found something everyday to laugh about, a great example for all of us. Janise will be missed and never forgotten. With Sympathy.

When I was young I lived across the street from Jan. She would always give out pops and candies on those hot summer days and was always so pleasant. I'm glad I got to meet her again when I was an adult and tell her how much better she made those youthful days outside. What an amazing woman who shall be missed dearly. The world is a little less kind without her in it.

My daughter Christine and Mama D s son Matt were married and have two children,Viola and Oliver that absolutely loved when their Momma D came to visit them always bringing them gifts and jokes.The children will miss her very much.

I got to know Jan when she worked at PGH and enjoyed her great sense of humour. She was a lovely, kind and caring lady. My condolences to her family and friends. I’m sure you will greatly.

Although I didn’t work with her directly I did work in the adjoining unit. She had an amazing reputation and great nurse and coworker. She was if nothing else resilient a hard worker and a great friend to all who knew her.
