It’s with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to Mrs. Ecker, a woman who helped shape my childhood in ways I’ll never forget. She was a gentle soul who taught me kindness, manners, and sparked my lifelong love for animals and flowers. Some of my sweetest memories are the drives we’d take with Mr. Ecker through the countryside, gathering wildflowers into bouquets. Mrs. Ecker had a way of making everything brighter—like the kittens she rescued, one of which I named Flower. Driving past their old home on Sunnyside makes me smile, knowing her pen marks tracking my height on the wall are still there, hidden beneath layers of paint—a home that was filled with love and laughter. I feel so lucky to have had her in my life. I wish I had made more visits. Thank you, Mrs. Ecker, for everything. You’ll live on in every bloom I see and every act of kindness I pass along.
