Obituary of Colette Gertrude Lavergne
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Colette Lavergne at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in Timmins in 1950, Colette was the beloved daughter of the late Marie-Laure (Desalliers) and Marcel Trudel.
Colette was a devoted wife to Patrick Lavergne, sharing 56 wonderful years of love and companionship. Together, they built a loving family, and she is survived by her cherished children, Gina (Mike) Gobbi and Steven (Amelia) Lavergne. Colette took immense joy in being a grandmother to Leland and Samantha, who meant the world to her. Her heart also overflowed with love for cats; she found great joy in caring for them and considered them part of her family.
A respected educator, Colette dedicated many years to teaching before becoming a principal with the Conseil scolaire catholique de district des Grandes Rivières. Her passion for education and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on the community.
Colette will be sadly missed by her two nieces, Céline (Marcel) Desjardins and Louise (Philippe) St-Denis, as well as by Niki and Gordon Brodie. She was predeceased by her sister Georgette (Paul) St. Aubin and her brother Paul (Stella) Trudel.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, located at 156 William St. S. in Chatham, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the time of a chapel service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated in Colette’s memory. Her love for her family, friends, and all living creatures will always be remembered, and she will forever remain in our hearts.
