Obituary of Thomas Labadie
In Loving Memory of Thomas Labadie
It is with shock and deep sadness that we say goodbye to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Thomas Labadie passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by his devoted wife, children, grandchildren, brother, and sisters. Born in Wallaceburg, Tom was the son of the late Oscar and Madeline (DeCedar) Labadie.
He is survived by his loving wife Vivienne (Clark) Labadie, and his cherished children: Sherry Labadie-Caouette (Chris), Tammie Coristine (Rick), and Danielle Vu (Huy). Tom will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Alex (Cortney), Jocelyn, Zach, Shelbie, Owyn, and Kyden, who were the light of his life.
Also mourning his passing are his siblings: Carole Lucier (late Rosaire, caring friend Jack), Gary Labadie (Maryanne), and Darlene Labadie. He is predeceased by his brothers Donald (Linda), David, and by his sister Bella.
Tom is also lovingly remembered by his extended family: Norb King (late Yvonne), Jeannine Nunes (Art), Vincent Roy, Jean-Guy King (Aline), Philip King (Angelica), and Anita Dietrich (Rob), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom was a man of quiet strength and deep love. His hugs were legendary, and his belly laugh could be heard far and wide. He never sought recognition, but instead led by quiet example—always there to help others, always with a kind heart.
He was a proud business owner, operating the Firestone Store for many years, serving as Service Manager at Canadian Tire in Chatham for over 20 years, and most recently, owning Kitts Auto Electric for the past three years.
A passionate sportsman, Tom especially loved lacrosse and spent many years playing softball, where he earned the nickname "Pappy" as the eldest player on his team. His teammates respected him as a leader, both on and off the field.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the paramedics, the emergency room staff-especially Dr. Morand-and the ICU team for their exceptional care and compassion. They went above and beyond, and we will be forever grateful.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St.S., Chatham.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Funeral Home.
Those wishing to honour Tom’s life may consider donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice and Outreach for Hunger.
