You don’t know me but in the summer of 2022 I briefly moved to Pain Court while my young family was trying to relocate back to Alberta. I’d been through some really difficult times and was at my lowest point. I went for a walk through Pain Court and noticed a garage door open with a “Bar open” sign. I walked in and said Hi, Norb immediately offered me a beer. I pulled up to his bar and we chatted for hours about life and music. I had recently lost my dad and having a chat like that, at that moment, was exactly the thing I needed. He was so kind and understanding. He offered me very simple and direct advice on how to dig out of my hole. I popped I a couple more times that summer before I moved back to Alberta, and my life has been on a steady growth trajectory ever since. I never forgot those conversations and think of him often. Norb was a good man.

My friendship with Norb started when I stopped in one day and he mentioned that he was looking for someone to cut his grass. I thought nothing of it and Shortly after that, we started getting along very well. He sold me his riding lawnmower, which helped me start my lawn care business in the Pain Court area. I would often stop in at Norb’s for a visit, as we had many good laughs, talks and sometimes have a meal together.
When Norb’s back started to give him problems, I tried to help him any way I could. Actually, I tell people”Norb and I help would always help each other out”.
I’m truly going to miss seeing Norb around, as he always put a smile on my face. Rest in peace my friend.

To the King and Caron families. So sorry for your loss. I first met Norb when I rode the school bus when I moved to Paincourt in 1964. At that time we became immediate friends and then 30 years later (when he was semi-retired) he drove my trucks to Toronto to pick up furniture. We always had so many laughs. On my visits from Scotland..I met Norb who,was always so accommodating & very charming...his hospitality was second to none, I have many good memories that,I will cherish, he will be greatly missed...A character who was "Simply the best"
