Obituary of Josephine Wellington

At the Chatham Kent Hospice, Chatham, on Saturday February 28, 2026, Josephine Gertrude (Heathcote) Wellington, age 82.  Born in Chatham in 1943 daughter of the late Josephine (Pelkey) and Joseph Heathcote. Beloved wife of the late Albert Wellington (2022). 

 

Loving mother of Mary Reid, Joe Reid and Kevin (Shonna) Corbett. Also sadly missed by grandchildren Damian (Lisa) Primeau, Randy (Becky) Primeau, T.J Pryor, Jamie (Amanda) Kennedy,Courtney (Chris) Visocchi, Robert Reid, Misti-blue (Matt) Lafleur, Dylan (Seneca) Primeau, Brandon (Kayla) Corbett, Shyla (Chris) Primeau, Nairn Primeau, Dastiny (Dillon) Primeau, Chasiree (Zak) primeau, Joey (Trinity) Reid, Nayelle Primeau. 31 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Dear sister of Janis (dec.John) Stokes, Cindy (David) Fenton, Ginny (Scott) Russell, Joe (Janice) Heathcote, Pat Heathcote, Ed (Valerie) Heathcote, Tom (Pam) Heathcote, and Jon (Lori)Heathcote. She is predeceased by a sister Kathy Heathcote and brothers John, Bill and Robert Heathcote. And great grandson Silas Primeau.

 

Loved by sister in law and best Karen Heathcote.

 

Josephine was known to everybody as ‘grandma’. Josephine volunteered at the soup kitchen at Praise Fellowship Church, she ran the breakfast program at St. Ambrose school. She helped with breakfast program at St. Joesph school and she did the grade 8 grad dinner.  

 

Friends and relatives may visit at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham from 12 noon until 2 pm on Wednesday March 4, 2026. 

 

A Chapel Service will then be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday with Pastor Mike Koppes officiating.

 

Cremation will follow.

 

Donations to Chatham-Kent Hospice would be appreciated.
