Obituary of Salvatore Orazio Caporale

Peacefully at his residence on Sunday March 22, 2026, Salvatore Orazio Caporale, age 78 of Chatham.  Born in Castelvetere Sul Calore in 1947 son of the late  Elizabeth (Pettruzzi) and Gennaro Caporale. Beloved husband of Mary (Magliaro) Caporale .  Loving father of  Gennaro (Jennifer) Caporale and Fabio (Patti) Caporale.  Dear brother of Carmela (Michele) Bocchino. Also sadly missed by 2 nieces, Emelia (Jeff) Vanderlinden and Elisa (the late Bill) Patrick.  

Salvatore learned to be a blacksmith in Italy.  He immigrated to Canada in 1967 where he worked at Kerr Farms long enough to buy a pair of steel toe work shoes. He then joined Huron Construction where he helped build the 401 until he met John Panjer and worked in his true calling, welding and steel fabrication.  He went on to buy into the business with John's son and together they operated until 2000 after his partner's untimely death.  He then finally realized his dream when he opened Sal and Son with his son Fabio.  There he did what he loved and plied his trade sharing his wisdom with his sons.    

Friends and relatives may visit at the Hinnegan Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. On Thursday March 26, 2026.  Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted in St. Joseph's Church, on Friday March 27, 2026 at10:00 AM.  Burial will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Donations to Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, London or the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chemotherapy Unit or St. Joseph's Church would be appreciated. Online condolences welcomed at www. peseski.com
