It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Josef Kominek at the age of 88, in Chatham, at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Facility, on Friday, May 8, 2026, with family by his side.
Born in Chatham in 1938, he was the son of the late Anastasia “Stella” (Konecny) and Joseph Kominek. Beloved husband and best friend of Annie (Anne) (Cibulka) Kominek for 63 years. Loving father of Kim (Greg) Belanger and Kathy (Brad) McMath. Cherished grandfather of Andrew Belanger, Aaron Belanger (Taylor Lemaire), Alexander McMath (Mackenzie Carter), Christen McMath, and Kyle McMath. Also survived by sister-in-law Georgina Oprsal of Michigan, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his cherished sister-in-law, Marie Holmes, sister-in-law Helen Vsetula and brother-in-law John Vsetula.
Robert was a Supervisor at Navistar International Corporation for 30 years, retiring at the age of 49. His favourite pastime was working on the home and Wabash farms. He also enjoyed working in his many sheds, building beautiful furniture, toys for his grandchildren, and many other things. His unfinished tin crusher was an ongoing work in progress. He was an active parishioner at St. Anthony Parish prior to its closing and involved in the Czech community. He will be missed by everyone whose heart he touched.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hudson Manor (Tilbury) and Copper Terrace (Chatham) for their dedication, ongoing care, and love shown to him.
A private chapel service will be conducted at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home with Deacon Jerry Lozon officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or P.A.W.R. (Pet and Wildlife Rescue) would be appreciated. Online condolences welcomed at www. peseski.com.
Goodbye, my friends, Robert J. Kominek
