Obituary of Johannes DeKievit

A longtime resident of Chatham, born in Wassenaar, Netherlands February 2, 1941. Peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with his loving family by his side on May 16, 2026, at the age 85 of Chatham.

Joe was the son of the late Dennis & Marie (nee Wijsman) De Kievit. Joe will be remembered always by his loving daughter Lisa Wood (Dan). Loving grandfather of Sara Morrison (Brandon), Luke Wood (Christy), Travis Wood (Nicole). Loving great Grandfather of Hayden, Jocelyn, Tanner, Taylin, Jamie & Rosalee. Special friend of Marcia Poissant.

Brother of Nellie Wijsman (the late Nick), the late John De Kievit (Tina), Dick De Kievit (Tina). Mary Hoskins (Leonard), Diane VanDusen (the late Ralph) and Anne De Kievit (Dave Hebert). Missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family including Isabelle and Cameron Albright.

Joe could often be found playing cards at the Chatham Legion or trying is luck at the Chatham Casino. Most of all Joe loved spending time with his family. He will be forever loved and missed.

Cremation will take place. Donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
