Obituary of Wayne Edward Evans
With his loving family by his side Wayne Edward Evans of Chatham-Kent passed away very peacefully May 28, 2026 at Bobier Villa in Dutton at the age of 79.
Born in Chatham, Feb. 4, 1947. Predeceased by his parents Earl & Bernice (Montague) Evans. Married to and deeply loved by his best friend Nell (Petronella Classens) for nearly 60 years (June 11, 1966) Devoted and loving father to Lisa and Jason (Stacie) Cherished Papa to Mitchell and Juliana
Loving brother to Sandy Drouillard (Roger) and Diane Crawford (Tom) Dear son-in-law to Gerard & Marie (Kleuskens) Classens (predeceased)
Dear brother-in-law to Casey VanDenDiepstraten (Mary - predeceased), Martina Desbiens (predeceased), Renie Classens (predeceased), Marty & Cathy Classens, Ann & Claude Paradis, Jerry Classens, Joe (predeceased) & Lynda Classens, Will Classens. Loving Uncle & Great Uncle to many nieces & nephews
A loyal friend to so many that accompanied him on his adventures. Gypsy Rose was never far from his side and brought so much love and comfort in his final years.
After 40 years employed as a Tool & Die Maker at Siemens in Chatham, Wayne enjoyed a wonderful 20 year retirement. Quiet mornings on the water with family and friends, a fishing rod in hand. Peaceful afternoons spent in nature with his dogs brought him great joy. Many evenings preparing delicious meals for all to savour. He loved to travel, photography, his home & property. He leaves behind quite a legacy.
Wayne’s family is extremely grateful for the care provided to him from by Dr. Vaughn & all the staff at Bobier Villa. A special thank you to Holly, Joel and the staff at Motions in Chatham. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. MacLean & Alicia.
A family service will take place on Saturday June 27 at 11 AM at St. Anthony Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for all family & friends at the Chatham Armoury on Sunday June 28 at 44 William Street N from 1-5 PM, sharing memories at 3 PM.
Donations can be made to the Recreation Department at Bobier Villa in honour of Wayne.
