My condolences to all the Leyte family at the passing of your mom. I would have come to the church to pay my respects, but was away in Ireland and only heard when I got home. I spent a great deal of time with Greg and Jim playing road hockey next door, or playing ball at the Christian school. I remember spending the many nights at your home and how kind your mom was to me. She was truly a nice person and I have fond memories of my childhood about her. We were all very lucky to have good moms who did a great deal for us. Please take care

We were so fortunate to have such wonderful neighbors. Many memories of baseball games in the backyard. The Leyte house was home base-perfect-since Mary was home base for her family. Mary demonstrated strength and hard work. We can still see images of her hanging her families’ clothes on the clothes line pole.

Sending sincere sympathy to your family.
Mary was a good friend and we shared the same birthday. She was a very caring person and would go out of her way to be helpful. The Maroon hockey team was our family in Chatham because we all came from out of town. We all lived in south Chatham within walking distance from each other and the arena. The kids played together when they were young. When Joe and I took our nightly walks we’d go down their street and chat with Mary and Copper. She will be greatly missed by many.

We were saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. As “Maroon kids” we spent lots of time together and became family. Our moms would spend hours on the phone together when our dads were out of town. Your Mom was always proud of all her kids and grandkids and loved telling stories about them. We won’t be able to be with you on Friday but send our love and prayers to all of you.

Mary was a great friend to our family as i was growing up in Chatham. My parents played cards every Friday night. I sometimes sat in and played with them. I loved Mary and considered her a friend all my life. Wendy Baker (Stead).
