Obituary of Sr. Gemma Staudt

Staudt, Sister Gemma (Lorraine) entered eternal life on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at St. Angela’s Meadow Care Centre, Chatham, Ontario.  She entered the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham in 1949.  During her religious life she served in many ministries - as a homemaker, director of food services, assistant librarian, pastoral administrator/assistant in Vibank, Allan, Regina, and Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, Edmonton and Drumheller, Alberta and in Toronto.   She served as co-leader in Regina, Saskatchewan from 1996-2000.  She also worked with Seniors in a private Care Home, “Chili For Children” – native children, visiting extended nursing homes, community service at “Cedar Wood Manor” and ministered to the poor, shut ins, feeding the hungry and fundraising for Peru.   She moved to Villa Angela, Chatham in September 2015.

She was born in 1933 in Vibank, Saskatchewan, the daughter of the late Henry & Monica (Vogt) Staudt.  She is survived by one sister, Mary Sali of Regina and one brother Edward (Hilda) Staudt of Regina. Cherished Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Kiva at St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge, 20 Merici Way, Chatham. 

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:00 am in the Kiva at St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge. 

Interment of ashes will be in Vibank Cemetery in Saskatchewan at a later date.
