Peacefully surrounded by his family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, on Saturday December 16, 2017, Jose Maria DeAscencao, age 96, of Chatham, beloved husband of Florinda Rosa DaRocha.

Born in Ermida, Portugal in 1921, son of the late Ezaura (Goncalves)  and Manuel DeAscencao.  

Loving father of Manuel (Rosa) DeAscencao, Maria Martins (Daniel-deceased), Anna (Jose) Machado and Otelinda Goncalves.  Sadly missed by 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and by 3 brothers in Portugal.  Predeceased by a daughter Rosa Laurentino and 2 brothers.   

Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Tuesday December 19, 2017 from 2 - 4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm .  

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday December 20, 2017 at 11 am in St. Agnes' Church. 

Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
