Obituary of Linda Marie Mifflin

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Surrounded by her family, Linda Marie Mifflin, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at Toronto General Hospital on Monday November 20, 2023 at the age of 64. Beloved wife of Michael Mifflin of 45 years, loving mother to Teya (Jeff) Lambert, Jaime-Lynn (Brian) Steinke and Michael Mifflin Jr. Loving Nana to her 5 grandchildren who were her entire world: Ryan, Zachary, Joshua, Liam and Meghan. Daughter to the late Rosa and James Willett, and older sister to Bill (Wendy) Willett and Patricia Willett. Loving aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews, some who called her Aunt Lila. Special mom to Cas (Brad) Clow, and best friend to Brenda (Randy) Coote. Sister in-law to the late Cathi Lawson (Mike); Terry Sluiter (Late Roy); Kim Mifflin (Deborah); Sheila Hrabek (Mike); Gina Allard (Terry); and Rodney Mifflin (Late Beverly).

Linda loved her family and had an amazing life. She loved being surrounded by people and lived for helping others. After college, Linda worked as a DSW at the Southwest Regional Centre until it closed. She tried different things before she found herself taking care of people again at what her family called, 'The Chatham House.' She knew she loved taking care of people who needed someone kind, loving and compassionate.

Linda had a pivotal role in restoring The Capital Theatre in Chatham; she worked there at different times helping to bring the theatre back to its original beauty. From the golden textures on the ceiling to the decorative finishes on the box seats, Linda put her heart and soul into the theatre restoration and loved working with her team. You all know who you are!

Once Linda started working in retail, she found her passion in chalk paint and met special friends whom she would help on their retail business journeys. (Diane Gavin) Soon, sewing and quilting became something Linda did every day, so much so, that she went into business with Bailey Myers and opened The Mercantile in Chatham. There she met new people, helped with their sewing projects, and became friends/business partner with Brenda O bringing different sewing adventures into the store. Believe it or not, Linda even got her two daughters into quilting. Linda worked at The Mercantile until, sadly, it closed due to Covid struggles.

A couple of years ago, Linda was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis - a lung disease with no cure except for lung transplant. In good old Linda fashion, she talked it over with her family and took the leap. On June 7, 2023, Linda got her call. Lungs were available and she was off to Toronto.  Linda had an amazing team of doctors and through this new journey, she met some amazing friends whom she kept in touch with once home. Kim Bouchard - her roommate after the transplant, Kim King and Joanne Jacobs whom she met through a Facebook group and were on their own Pulmonary Fibrosis journeys, Irene from rehab who had had a lung transplant before Linda, and all the other friends she met along the way.

Linda found solace in knowing that one day she would see her Lord and Saviour. She was at peace knowing she would see loved ones who had passed before her and the rest of her family one day in Paradise.

Linda is going to be greatly missed by so many people; she touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Our family would like to give thanks to the amazing transplant team at Toronto General Hospital - the doctors, nurses, PSWs, PT staff, and respiratory staff. To the team at Sarnia Bluewater Health and to the team that took care of Linda this past weekend at Toronto General - your jobs are not easy, and you do not get the gratitude you deserve. You took the brunt of the grieving family and still managed to not only care for Linda, but you also took care of us.  We will never forget what you did.

Lastly, our family would like to give thanks to her Donor and her Donor’s family. Without you, Linda would not have had the chance she did. Know that she did not take one day with her new lungs for granted. She lived every day, and at the end of it all, she did it her way.
