Peacefully, Shirley Freda Angela Zruna surrounded by her children at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday January 29, 2022, age 85. Shirley was born in 1936 at Chatham, Ontario. Daughter of the late Marie (Barnier) and Wesley James. Most loved daughter-in-law of the late Mary (Gazarek) and Jacob Zruna. Beloved wife of the late Charles (Chuck) John Zruna (1989).
Loving Mother of Lynn Zruna, Dianne (Bill) Flewelling, Jim (Charlene) Zruna and Dan (Pam) Zruna. Predeceased by infant son Randy Zruna (1955) and by son-in-law Stanley Chickowski (1994). Dearly missed by grandchildren Niki Ritchie (Gord), Greg Liebrock (Tara), Jason Chickowski (Jen), Randy Liebrock (Dana), Jacob Zruna (Morgan), Jennifer Zruna (Mike), Christina Raspburg (Mike), Konnor and Emelia Zruna and her 15 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews will miss the visits and times with Aunt Shirley. Shirley is survived by brother Clayton James and sisters Ruby Preston and Cora Ball and brother-in-law John Jouwsma. Predeceased by sister Carol Jouwsma (2021). Shirley is survived by brothers in law Jerry (Emma Jean-deceased) Zruna and Martin (Cathy) Zruna. Predeceased by in-laws Joseph (Lillian) Zruna and Johnny (Margie) Zruna.
She met and married (Chuck) the love of her life in her teens and the two went on to two-step through an eventful and full life until Charles passing (1989). She loved keeping her hands busy from working at the William Pitt Hotel, to owning and operating Shirley’s Ceramic Studio. Subsequently she became the voice and office mainstay of Bobby Lawn Care until her passing. In any spare moment Shirley stayed busy and made the most of her time by knitting and sewing for family and friends. When she was sure they were content, she continued to create and donate for the less fortunate. She was an amazing combination of sweetness and stubborn determination.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thank you for the care and support from Dr. Zeke Milkovic, Dr. David Miller and all of the nurses and staff on 4B Medicine and Continuing Care at CKHA.
