Obituary of Adolfo Meriano
Peacefully surrounded by family at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, Chatham, on Sunday February 20, 2022, Adolfo Meriano, age 87, of Chatham, beloved husband of Maria (DeCola) Meriano. Born in Castelvetere Sul Calore, Italy in 1934, son of the late Celesta (Follo) and Ernesto Meriano. Loving father of Patricia (Walter) Grison and Geraldina (Michael) Krause. Cherished grandfather of Jessica Grison-Roeder (Kevin), Jeffrey Grison (Michele VanderWal) and great grandfather of Aiden MacAinsh and Jillian Roeder. Dear brother of Attilio (Vincenza) Meriano. Also sadly missed by several nieces and nephews Predeceased by brothers and sisters: Pasquale (Rosina), Silvio (Pasqualina), Maria Antonia, Amalia Corso (Generoso), Michelina Rizzo (Antonio), Albino (Guiseppina), Gerarda Sullo (Nick) Benito (Maria) and Carmela Magliaro (Giovanni).
Adolfo was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was dedicated to his family, faith and his work. He loved gardening and his fruit and vegetable gardens. He was also an expert on fruit trees and people sought his advice on how to take care of them. He loved to fish, hunt, visit the casino and tinker with tools. He was known to always be helping his family and friends if needed. He loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also one of the best dancers around. He was a great storyteller and loved to joke and laugh. He was loved by many.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Gardens for all the loving support and caring they gave to Adolfo.
Friends and relatives may visit at Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Wednesday February 23, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday February 24, 2022 at 10am in St. Ursula’s Church.
