Obituary of Martha Bissonnette

At Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, Chatham, on Friday May 6, 2022, Mary "Martha" Bissonnette, age 82, of Chatham, loving companion of over 60 years to John Duke of Windsor.

Martha was known as “Biz” to her friends and was very proud to be a nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor before her lupus diagnosis.  Born in Tilbury in 1939, daughter of the late Bernadette (Tremblay) and Lawrence Bissonnette. 

Dear sister of Aline Walker (late Bill), Dennis (late Bernice) and Peter (Sharron) Bissonnette. Also sadly missed by niece Maureen Walker (Kevin Fischer) and their daughter Sawyer and by nephew Richard (Lisa) Walker and their children Cole, Molly, Zoe and Rosie. Predeceased by a sister Margaret (late Jerry) Joyal and by brothers; Francis, Teddy (Deborah) and Henry Bissonnette. 

As were the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 21, 2022 at 11 am in St. John the Evangelist Parish in Woodslee, Ontario and burial of ashes will follow after the mass.

The family wishes to thank “Duke” for all the years of love and support and the staff at Riverview Gardens for their care of Martha.
