Obituary of Elisabeth Molema
Peacefully, at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Facility on Friday July 29, 2022, Elisabeth Molema, age 92, of Chatham, beloved wife of 69 years of Henry Molema. Born in 1930 in Emmen, Germany, daughter of the late Wilhelmina and stepfather Bill Dennekamp.
Loving mother of the late Perry Jack (2012) and Robert Henry (2004). Dear grandmother of Melissa Molema (Alex DeFrancesco) and Lindsay Molema (Dan Golas). Dearest great grandmother of Maximus, Mila and the late Sophia. She is also survived by her sister Ina Dennekamp (Louie Ettling) and her daughter-in-law Sherry Molema-DeBot (Dennis DeBot).
Immigrating to Canada in the early 50’s, Elisabeth and Henry settled in Leamington and worked hard to establish a life in Canada. Eventually, they moved to Chatham and purchased the riverside property that would become Colonial Nursery and Garden Centre. Here Elisabeth worked happily and raised her boys until the business became a family affair and flourished for many years. When not on the farm, she enjoyed RV’ing through North America and Mexico where she and Henry met many friends and made many memories. They had a warm open home and an active social life. Elisabeth loved to cook and dance and was the life of the party. She had a great sense of humour, loved a good joke and also always had a warm hug ready for loved ones. Even through the devastating losses of her two children she managed to keep a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.
As per Elisabeth’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A private Celebration of Life will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
