Hi Lee,
Thank you so much for your condolences and your kind words about Mom. She thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work at the hospital!
Mom had excellent organizational skills and always did a job fully. If she could have chosen a profession it would have been a nurse. Thank you for sharing your memories of Mom! It brings us much comfort!

My dad was very grateful for the friendship that formed and lasted for many many years even beyond his retirement and how you kept in touch when he moved to Florida. My sincere condolences to you and your entire family. Hold tight to all the good. And let all the happy fun memories bring more smiles than tears. And let her kindness and generosity be her legacy. My deepest sympathies to Mary Jean's family. Mary Jean was a very special caring woman. She was so caring and helpful during my mother's illness and passing. She gave me a stained-glass Madonna that i have on the window above the sink in the kitchen, I think of her every day. May she rest in peace and may you all find some comfort in all of your memories and knowing how many people your wife mother grandmother touched with her kindness.

Sending love and condolences to Will, Cathy, Karen, Joyce, Dennis and your families. Maryjean has always been so very special to me and to our whole family, especially to mom. Maryjean was like a daughter to mom, from the moment, as a young bride, she and Will moved in next door to us. She became like family to us. Maryjean was so good to mom over the years and she will always have a special place in our hearts.

Hello Cathy & Kerr Family,
Thank you so much for your kind words. Your Family has always been very special in the hearts of our family as well. Throughout their nearly 62 years of marriage Mom and Dad have always taken great comfort from your family's friendship. Wilbert and Family,
Judy and I are so sorry to hear of Mary Jeans passing.
Marry Jean was such a caring and giving person.
We have many fond memories of the bbq's, Christmas partys and other fun times during the years at DeKalb.
We will always remember the kind words and encouragement she gave us during the loss of our son. That is the kind of person Mary Jean was.
Wilbert, we are so sorry we couldn't be with you during this time as we are in Kentucky visiting our daugher.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Love,
Chris and Judy

Dear Chris and Judy,
Thank you so very much for lighting a candle for Mom and your very kind words! So good of you and much appreciated by our family.
Mom and Dad always very much enjoyed socializing with all the Dekalb employees and their families at the picnics. As well as your visits to see Mr. Barnard and Jenny and most recently your visit at Uncle Walt and Joanne's wedding.

No worries about not being able to attend Mom's funeral. Mom and Dad would be so happy you are having a holiday and a visit with your daughter and her family, as family and dear friends are what matters most in life!
Maybe some time, once you are back you could meet Dad for a coffee or drop by the apartment. Dad would love that! I recently got Mom and Dad a keurig coffee pot and Dad loves nothing better than making visitors a cup of coffee!

Wilbert and family- sending you all our deepest condolences. Our families have known each other for a very long time- I babysat some of your children (grandchildren) and our moms spent a lot of time together doing CWL work. I heard the name Mary Jean for a long time before I met her (as an adult). She always made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. And I think that she treated everyone that way. I loved our little chats that we would have. I will miss her dearly…as each of you will too. I hope that Mary Jean and Cam are sitting together having a drink. At least that’s how I picture them together. Rest In Peace good and faithful servant.

Karen Horne Posted Oct 27, 2022 at 7:51 PM
Hi Angela & Jamie,
Thank you for sending your condolences! Your Mom and our Mom did a lot of traveling together for CWL functions and I believe they were often roommates at conventions!
I bet they were watching over us today as so many CWL members were out front to welcome Mom for her funeral! It would have meant everything to her!
It is lovely to think of our Mom's having a drink, although perhaps just a quick one as I bet there is a convention to plan-Ha!

Hello Tim,
Thank-you so very much for your kind words about Mom.
Yes, I so remember all our field days in grade school. Sr. Rachel would call Mom up with a date and then Mom would be on the phone with all the parents getting the food organized. I am sure your Mom helped too! There was the hotdogs cooked on the Coleman Stoves, chips, pop, and ice cream bars. What more could a kid ask for on a field day?! Speaking for myself, it was all about the food, I never was an athlete!
Best,

I have known Mary Jean my whole life. She was there in my earliest memories living on Tissiman Ave. She was my mother's best friend and a daily fixture in the neighborhood and in my mother's kitchen. She was the key to me obtaining my driver's license and a sounding board in my young teen years. Although she will be sorely missed by Wil and all her children and grandchildren and friends, she and my mother will be together now, spreading joy throughout heaven. She was a lovely lady and will be missed indeed by so many people. She made her imprint on my whole family and will not be forgotten.

Hi Dianne,
Thank you so much for your tribute to Mom and yes Mom and your Mom were such good friends! They were like a couple of peas in a pod and I bet they are sitting at your Mom's kitchen table right now, sipping their tea and eating windmill cookies. Every other Friday was their day for paying bills, having lunch and getting their groceries.
K
Karen Horne Posted Nov 1, 2022 at 11:02 AM
I don't know if you remember when I cut my head open (I was standing in front of Weirsma's swing set while in motion and bang right in the head. Know one ever said I was the smartest chip on the street). Anyway, I went running to your house because I knew Mom was having coffee with your Mom. I probably bled all over your Mom's newly washed kitchen floor and your Mom would have kept an eye on Cathy, Joyce and Dennis while we were at the hospital.
K
Karen Horne Posted Nov 1, 2022 at 11:04 AM
I remember too staying overnight at your house when Mom and Dad took Joyce to Toronto for hip surgery. I also remember you babysitting us. We were so lucky to grow up on Tissiman. We knew all our neighbours and could depend on them at the drop of a hat or injury-ha! Your family has and always will be an integral part of our family and it is comforting to know your Mom and our Mom will be together again!

Thank you for your condolences and your kind words! Mom and Dad so enjoyed spending time with you and Lionel over coffee or pizza at Mike's place!

You have already been a rock for Dad and our family. Your calls of support to us at the Hospice, tracking down phone numbers and getting ahold of Father Matt and Father Dan was huge! You made it possible for us to fulfill Mom's funeral wishes! Your organizing of the CWL ladies for prayers and the beautiful welcome for Mom yesterday meant so much!
