Obituary of Albert "Bert" Thievin
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Louis Thievin on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 at the age of 78. Albert "Bert" was born to the late Annette (LaPlante) & Alphonse Thievin in Estevan, Saskatchewan on October 23, 1944, but lived and grew up in Port Colborne, Ontario.
It was at Port Colborne High School, where he met and married his High School Sweetheart Sharon (Marko) and this past summer they celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary. Together, their love grew and welcomed their children Christine & (Tony) deNijs, and Sean Thievin. He was a very loving & proud grandfather to Sophia & (Logan) Mangano, Abigail & (Kevin) Smith and Esther deNijs, and Michael & Devon Thievin, and great-grandfather to Felix.
Bert was a very dedicated employee of Navistar as a Quality Control Inspector and retired in 2002. Because relaxing was impossible for him, he worked part-time at the local Home Depot where he could be found assisting customers with all sorts of inquiries regarding woodworking.
Being an avid enthusiast of woodworking, he enjoyed making special keepsakes for his wife and grandchildren and either owned or created every "jig" needed to complete a job. Deeply in love and inseparable, Bert & Sharon worked hard and became quite the cruisers and enjoyed many trips out on the ocean visiting the islands and making fond memories.
Bert will be missed dearly by his loving sister Natalie & (Gary) Benner and their children Kevin & (Pat), Mike & (Kim), Leslie & (Frank) and Jennifer & (Mike) and their children. Bert was a giving, caring and selfless soul and would do anything for anyone.
He loved problem solving & math and was always doing equations in his head (a calculator was never required).
Predeceased by his infant son Christopher (1967).
