Peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, on Wednesday January 11, 2023, Anita Mary Dodich, age 79, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Dario Dodich (2020).  Born in Lopar, Slovenia in 1943, daughter of the late Maria (Dobrinja) and Evaristo Bembich.

Loving mother of Susan (Mark) Wollenzin, Sandra Dodich and Ed (Lauren) Dodich. Cherished Nonna to Claire, Elisabeth, Gia and Nate.  Dear sister to Deborah Bembick (Larry Asselstine, deceased) of Kingston.  Sister in law to Arnold (Cathy) Dodich of Windsor, Norma (Biaggio) Viller of Australia and Lidia (Ermidio) Maraspin of  Trieste, Italy. Also missed by extended family members and friends Vicky King, Peter and Sandra King (of London) as well as Livia Roiac, Mirka and Edi Kavrecic and their families in Slovenia and Italy.

Predeceased by sister Vera (Gary) Elliot.

Anita  emigrated to Canada in 1957. Anita worked within the Chatham-Kent agricultural community, British Leaf Tobacco and St. Andrew’s Residence where she retired.  Anita spoke fondly of the ladies and friends she worked with for so many years in the fields and at the residence.  Anita was an avid gardener.  Her flowers were admired by many.  She was a wonderful cook and her homemade tomato sauce was legendary. She always loved to make soup for her grandchildren.  She dearly loved her two cats Jimmy and Joey, who never left her side.  Much thanks to the Goodall family for being wonderful neighbours. Special thanks to the Ytsma family who were always willing to assist Anita, day or night.

Much thanks also to the entire Chatham Kent Hospice staff, whose care and compassion were amazing.
