Peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday December 15, 2015 after a courageous battle with a long-term illness, Gerard was received into the arms of Jesus. Born in Dover township son of the late John and Delia Couture. Beloved husband of 51 years of the late Godelieve (Bossy) Couture (2006). Loving father of Denise (Mike) Bell, Rene (Janet) Couture, Yvette (Michael) Glynn, Georgette Couture, John Couture and Lori Couture. Proud grandfather of Eleanor, Julia, Gregory, Amanda, Emily, Matthew, Christina, Danielle, Jaclyn, Shannon and Bridget. Great grandfather to Sean, Owen and Enike. Survived by his sisters Dorothy (Rene) Sauve and Loretta Damphouse and his very special friend Betty Roelens. Brother-in-law to George Devos, Rene and Cecile Bossy, Margaret Bossy, Pauline Bossy, Harvey Couture and Aldea Couture. Predeceased by his sisters Annette, Dora, Florence and brothers Adelard, Herman, Ernest and Arsend and by his in-laws Don, Madeleine, Elmire and Reta Couture, Maurice and Cyril Bossy, Hector Ouellette, Georgette Devos and Eddie Damphouse. Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Friday December 18, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday December 19, 2015 at 10 am in St. Agnes Church. Burial will be in Immaculée Conception Church Cemetery, Pain Court. Donations to Chatham-Kent Hospice or the Dialysis Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance would be appreciated.
