Peacefully, with her family at her side at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, on Friday, June 23, 2023, Maria Shumanski, age 99. 

 

Beloved wife of the late Nestor Shumanski (2009).  Born in Belgium on March 23, 1924, daughter of the late Martha (VandeWeghe) and Camiel Blomme. 

 

She will be sadly missed by her loving children, Roy Shumanski,  Rosemary Scafe (Jamie) and Patricia Tong, 6 grandchildren, Terry (Danielle), Laura (Matthew), Mike (Michelle), Brian (Shelly), Bradley (Jenn) and Rebecca (Chris), 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, sisters-in-law Ann Betskal, Phyllis Shumanski and Donna Vanodenhove and many nieces and nephews.  

 

She is predeceased by a daughter Diane Shumanski (1998) , sister Aleda Wathy, and brothers Roy Vanodenhove, Mike Blomme and Romaine Blomme. 

 

Friends and relatives may call at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) from 6-8 PM on Monday June 26, 2023. 

 

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday June 27, 2023 at 1 PM in the funeral home.  

 

Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

 

Donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
