Obituary of Jerry Barnes

Jerry Barnes, 77, of Kent Bridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Beloved husband of Barbara (Wills) Barnes. Born in Petrolia in 1946, son of the late Doris (Mater) and Gordon Barnes.

Loving father of Michelle Mulhall, Bradlee (Jenna) Barnes, Jeremy (Amy) Barnes, David (Gabriela) Barnes and Charlotte Barnes. Cherished grandfather of Kaylee, Kandace, Carter, Aidan, Vanessa, Sienna and Mathias. Dear brother of Betty (Dennis) Harmsworth, Darlene Clarke, Doug (Linda) Barnes, Lois (Doug) Shaw and Eugene (Barb) Barnes.

Predeceased by his brother Willard Barnes (Survived by wife Sandra), and brothers-in-law Don Clarke, Don Wills (survived by Shelley and Tracy) and Terry Wills.

Jerry was a Tile Drainage Contractor for 40 years and a farmer in every sense of the word ever since he was a little boy. In his younger years Jerry loved to play the guitar, build and race snowmobiles, and get into mischief. As a father and grandfather, he lived for walking the fields, cultivating crops, and being surrounded by his family, who meant everything to him. 

Friends and relatives may visit at Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Thursday September 14, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday September 15, 2023 at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church. 

Burial will be in Shetland Cemetery, Shetland, ON.
