Obituary of Yong-Hyok Kwon

At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus, on Friday September 29, 2023, Yong-Hyok Kwon, age 85, of Chatham, beloved husband of Paulene Alliett-Kwon. 

Born in Busan, South Korea in 1938, he owned and operated Young’s Variety for over two decades and always enjoyed playfully interacting with customers. He picked up his favourite pastime, golf, in his 50's and it became his passion.

He was always giving everybody pointers on the golf course & as a senior, passed & completed his Canadian certification to become a golf pro. He golfed as much as his body would allow, and even played a final round with friends the day before his passing.

Loving father of Bob (Miyoun) Kwon, Brice (Cynthia) Kwon, Teresa (James) Chan and Rich (Olivia) Kwon and also missed by step children; Ryan (Susan) Shreve, Cameron Shreve and Craig Shreve and by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Jung-Hyok Kwon.

A private family visitation and service will be held at a later date in the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120).

Cremation will follow.
