Mario, Kelly, Jade and Family,
I am so heartbroken to hear about Skylar. I have putting off sending this as it makes it real. I know your worst fear as a parent and sister has come true and I cannot express how very sorry I am. I know you must be devastated. Sky Dawg truly was a genuine caring, loving boy. He will always be a boy to me sleeping over and playing mini sticks and manhunt for hours. Easting my homemade ice cream sandwiches, which he still talked about. He has been there for Brady in times of need too many times to count and his passing will leave a hole which will be impossible to fill. He will be deeply missed.
So sorry I was not able to attend visitation as I am out of the country. I will touch base with you once I return.
Sending you my deepest condolences and support.
Tina

Thoughts and prayers to the DeCosta family in your time of loss. Such a tragic loss of an Inspiring young man. I first met you when I moved in across the street from you. You really made me feel welcomed to the neighborhood. We would regularly talk almost every day and have coffee. You will be deeply missed. Fly high my friend.

Sending my deepest condolences to Uncle Mario, Aunt Kelly & Jade. I can't possibly begin to understand how you are feeling or what you must be going through at this time. I wish I was closer and could be there for you all. Skylar was a little boy when I moved away, he was the cutest kid. I loved his hair, his perfect manners from such a young age, couldn't get enough of those cheeks and loved his little voice. My favorite saying of his when he was a toddler was "Pardon me?", I remember him using that a lot, like a distinguished little man. He was always so polite and at every family get together when I come home. Skylar will be forever missed. Sending lots of love, Amy Iwan

When you were a baby I use to carry you around as if you were one of my dolls. Once we grew up, we may haven’t seen each other often but when we did you always made a point to tell me how proud you were of me and my boys. You had such a big heart. The best gift you had given me was being my little cousin. I know Skylar is watching over all the people he cared about deeply.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Skylar. When he was a student he was a peer helper in life skills class that I worked in. The students loved him so much and he was so great with them. He just had this loving spirit about himself. After he was done school I’d run into him occasionally and he was always so friendly. I just wanted to come on here and share that because it’s not often I remember all the students who’ve come in to help my students eventually their names leave my mind but Skylar was a name I remembered and so that must say something to the kind contagious spirit he had.

I met Skylar in 2015 and we became friends almost instantly. We have a lot of great memories together but the ones I will remember most are from our talks when one or both of us were feeling down. Skylar helped me through one of the darkest times of my life and I’ll be forever grateful for that. There are no words to take away the pain that his family is experiencing so I won’t try to find any but please if you can take anything from the multitude of messages from everyone I hope you’ll see how much your son/brother meant to everyone who had the honour and privilege to know and love him. Know that he touched every life that he came into contact with. You raised an amazing young man and it’s not fair that he was taken but I know that he was so proud to be your son/brother , he talked highly about all of you. May he rest in the sweetest paradise.
Skylar, I’ll miss you little bro, I’m so glad that I met you. Now your smile will brighten up heaven the same way it would light up rooms here on earth. Love you, rest easy , see you when I get there ♥️

Thinking of you Aunt Kelly, Uncle Mario and Jade at this difficult time. Skylar was the best cousin to me that I could have ever needed. He was always supportive and always made sure to check on me. In my darkest times he helped pull me out. Without his positivity, contagious laugh and constant jokes I don’t know what I would have done without him.
Please know Skylar touched so many lives in just a short time earth side. He will always be remembered. I love you guys.

I remember being nervous the first time Skylar came over to my house to visit his then girlfriend. I had always seen him with this tough exterior, I always thought of him as “one of the cool kids” and didn’t know what to expect. Little did I know he was the BIGGEST teddy bear and from the moment I met him and I never let him forget it.
Skylar, You were the absolute kindest to my sisters and I. Buying us ice cream, spending time with us, always checking in. My mom and step dad always said you were one of the kindest people they had ever met.
Thank you for all the mcgregor memories, the Sobeys memories and for hanging out and checking in.
I hope you are in peace my friend.

Skylar was wonderful to me at GPV. I dealt with a lot of bullying and hard stuff when my dad passed in Gr. 8. We weren't close, but his kindness made my life a little easier in those hard times.
I am so sorry for your loss.

Skylar truly was one of those young men that the moment you met him, he touched your heart. I was Blessed to have met him many years ago and was able to watch him grow to the wonderful, kind hearted young man he became. He would always go out of his way to do for someone in need. Always respectful to people and made sure my boys never went hungry at an event. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family who he was always proud of being a part of.

You were more than just Skylar DaCosta to most, you were kind hearted, gentle, generous, loving and always was willing to take the many sweaters you had off your back to put on others including mine, People always say “god takes the good ones” but god doesn’t need the extraordinary ones to. You may be gone but your beautiful soul will never be forgotten, Rest easy easy sweet angel.

Sky was always someone you could rely on. He wore his heart on his sleeve and lived unapologetically. Going through high school whenever I had a hard time, if there was one person I could call and knew would pick up and be there, it was sky. To this day, he has remained one of my biggest supporters and I his. He was one of the brightest souls I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet, and this world has gotten a little darker without him. Sky.. you will be extremely missed, but I hope you’ve gained peace.
