Obituary of Wayne Lachine
Wayne George Patrick Lachine, born January 22, 1949 in the Lachine family home at 73 Sandys St., Chatham. Son of the late William Lachine Sr. and Jeannie Francis (Boyes) Lachine.
Predeceased by infant brothers Brian and David Lachine and by brothers William Lachine Jr. and Gerald Lachine and by sisters, Joanne Douglas and Donna Holland. Wayne was the last surviving member of his family.
Survived by his wife Beth (McLaughlin) Lachine, daughter Alisha Lachine and her fiancé Kyle Nantais. Chosen family Emily and Brandon Day and our grandchildren Ruby and Ellis Day. Predeceased by brother-in-law Michael McLaughlin (2003) and his wife Maureen McLaughlin (2020) their son Mark McLaughlin (2022).
Brother-in-law Paul McLaughlin (2022) wife Wendy and their sons Robert and Kevin, sister-in-law Marnie Loyson (Noel) and sons Sean Lamb (Liz), Owen and Avery Lamb, Jason Lamb (Jenn).
In earlier days Wayne enjoyed photography, Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Jujitsu and weightlifting. He was into renovating the family home on Sandys Street. He worked at the George Street Plant Rockwell until its closing. He also worked at Southwestern Regional Centre in Housekeeping, Laundry and Switchboard until its closure in November of 2008.
He resided in the family home until September 2021 where he moved into Tilbury Manor, until July 11, 2023 where he moved to Copper Terrace. He received wonderful care from both Nursing Homes.
Wayne was a proud member of St. Joseph’s Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree council 10436 and the Fourth Degree Father James Assembly.
Cremation has taken place.
Friends and relatives may visit at St. Joseph’s Church, 184 Wellington St. W., Chatham on Tuesday April 9, 2024 from 11 AM until the time of Funeral Mass at 12 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Chatham-Kent Mental Health, The Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Spirit and Life Centre would be appreciated.
