I am saddened to hear of Sister Mary Ellen's passing. She was my principal over 50 years ago, and left an enduring mark with the warmth and community she fostered in our humble, working class community. She left an imprint on me, and I'm sure on many other students, that I now realize, looking back, is a rarity (at the time, kids being kids, we just thought that's what teachers were like--we didn't realize the magic we had in our midst). I reconnected with her briefly, online, just a few years ago and we shared some correspondence, which I will always hold dear.

Michael Quinlan and Family It was my great fortune to teach with Sister Mary Ellen in Strathroy On at Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School. She taught me the essentials of teaching Grade four in the kindest, most professional way. She was a welcomed guest at our home, especially at holiday time. Her laughter and zest for life will be my favourite memories of my dear friend.

Dear Ursuline Sisters of Chatham: My sincerest sympathy to all of you in the loss of your dear Sr. Mary-Ellen. I met Sr. many years ago on a retreat we made at the Cenacle in Niagara Falls and over the years we kept in touch and would see each other from time to time at those retreats in Niagara. I really appreciated her friendliness and humour. She suffered much in the last couple of years but is now reunited with her family and her beloved Lord. May she rest in peace, Prayerfully, Sr. Elaine Weinstein, S.S.N.D. Waterdown, Ontario.

I was blessed to have had Sr. Mary Ellen as my grade 4 teacher at Our Lady Immaculate School in Strathroy. I have fond memories of her kindness to my classmates and I. She was a great teacher of the curriculum and of our faith. As a Catholic teacher myself now, she is a beautiful role model to me. May she rest in God's peace. Maria (Giesen) Tremeer

Our family had the privilege of having Sr Mary Ellen Kenny as part of our life while she served at the parish of St George. Our three children were all touched and inspired by her interaction with them. Sister’s enthusiasm and joy was part of her everyday. God sent a beautiful lady to see as a living example of Jesus.
