Obituary of Della Turner
Turner, Della Marie (nee Dow) 64yrs. passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Loving daughter of Gloria Dow of Chatham and the late Norm (2011). Beloved wife and best friend for over forty years to Jim. Adored mother of Jim (Amy) of Rodney. Cherished Nana to Arella, Eviana and Adalee. Dear sister of Bob (Sue) of Blenheim and Cindy O’Brien (Mike) of Amherstburg. Predeceased by brother Bill (2022). Special daughter-in-law to Cecilia Turner of Windsor. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Della had a strong belief in God and was totally devoted to her family. She was a dedicated and compassionate community home care nurse beginning her career with Comprehensive Nursing Services followed by the V.O.N. Della was a conversationalist and a real firecracker. Being petite, she would often say “dynamite comes in small packages”. Della loved to dance with her father, reading and socializing at the cottage, watching old movies, popcorn and cooking. She was a fierce competitor when playing a game of euchre or cribbage. Her wish was that there be no formal funeral service and that she be remembered privately.
With deep gratitude, we would like to thank the teams of Doctors, Nurses and staff from London Health Sciences Victoria Hospital, Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham-Kent Hospice, McNaughton Pharmacy, Bayshore Home Health and the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home for their exemplary care and compassion shown to us over these past several months. Lastly, but not least, to our friends and neighbours for their prayers and generous support during this difficult time.
If friends desire, memorial contributions to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
