With a heavy heart I sat, thinking back to all the good times we shared.
Hopping fences between houses so we didn't have to walk around the block, tobogganing on the creek, paintball, playing video games, learning who we were as we grew up into adults, learning to drive, cruises in the LeBaron, the jeep, and my myriad of vehicles. Driving the neighborhoods crazy with loud cars and music. The many campfires with drinks and laughter. Wrestling and putting your foot through the wall, trying desperately to patch it before your dad came home. We always managed to find a way to get into less trouble for our misbehavior than we should have. Your smile and laughter always seemed to bring out the best in people.
I'm proud to have had you as a close friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family in this difficult time. Know that you helped shape Ian into a great man.
We'll meet again one day Smitty. Until then, I'm glad you're at peace.

I never met my cousin Ian but when his dad, my Uncle Don, came to visit our family (his brother Richard) this past summer we heard so many wonderful stories. Don was so proud of Ian! I'm grateful to Ryan for arranging that visit so we had a chance to hear those stories.
From the Smith, Andrecyk and Bhardwaj families a donation has been made to the CMHA in Ian's memory.
Our thoughts and hearts are with Don, Robin, Ryan and Shannon during this incredibly hard time.
Love Richard, Donna, Christina and Rosie

Dear little brother,
Words cannot express what we are feeling at the moment. However, one thing that brings us a little comfort is that you are at peace and watching over us.
I’d give anything to speak with you one more time. There is so much that I haven’t said. But I know you can hear me and are watching over our family, like you’ve always done.
You have one of the biggest hearts I know. Your legacy will forever live on through your niece and nephews.
Please watch over us as we figure out how to manoeuvre through this next phase of life. It will never be the same, as we are forever changed. However, Shannon and I will bring you with us everywhere we go.
Love you lots buddy!
Your big brother
Ryan

Don and family of Ian, I am in utter shock to hear about Ian's passing!
I was at Friday Mass when I heard about this. My sincere and deepest condolences to the family on this most tragic loss at this time of the year, or anytime for that matter! I feel so sad about this but we all have to move on at some time.
I wish I could say more, but have probably said enough. This is all I can say for now. C. Frank Doyle

Our sincerest condolences to your family. Ian was a friend of our daughter Lynsey. We enjoyed his visits to our home on Bloomfield Road, and he even bought a Jeep from us many years ago. Ian was a kind person, and we always appreciated his sense of humour. We will miss his smile.
Sending thoughts of comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Ian, you have a smile that would light up a room, a laugh that was so contagious I couldn't help but laugh with you or at you. You are a one of a kind soul who lived life to the fullest, your spark will love on in all of our hearts and memories. You are missed so dearly, I love you more then words can ever express, trying to navigate these days without breaks my heart. Love always my baby brother, Shenanigans ❤️

I went all through grade school at St. Ursula's with Ian. He was a kind soul, and he never had a bad thing to say about anyone. I'll never forget our first day of grade 9 at UCC. We both were standing at what we thought was the bus stop in the pooring rain. Time was passing and no bus seemed to be coming. A police officer drove by and offered to give us a ride. So Ian and I arrived for our first day of high school via cop car in soaking wet uniforms! My deepest sympathies to Ian's family.

I met Ian in 2012 while he was working on the courthouse in Thunder Bay. We kept in touch over the years he was a good person, kind, funny and someone you just wanted to be around. I am so sorry to the family for this devastating loss Ian was an absolute gem and will truly be missed.

Dear Ian: I’ve known you since you were 5 years old. I’d drive you and Mike to school occasionally. And I remember your coming down to the cottage, and you and Mike jumping up and down on the chesterfield and singing “Buttercup” - one of the reasons I chose Buttercup as my clown name. You will be sorely missed by me, and all who knew you.
With lots of love, Grandma Lambert❤️❤️❤️❤️
