Peacefully, at Eden Villa Retirement Home, Chatham, on Monday, July 27, 2015, Joseph Louis Johns, age 95, of Chatham, beloved husband of Evelyn May Johns (Dunn). Born in Maidstone, son of the late Michael and Emily Johns. He is survived by his children, Jo Ann Johns of Chatham, Al (Peg) Johns of Chatham, Rosemary Johns of Mississauga, David Johns of B.C., Elizabeth (Dan) Wade of London, Judi Clark of Batawa, Janet (Paul) Driscoll of Mitchell and Anett (Richard) Pon of Calgary and many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a sister Mary Coyle of Parma, Ohio. Predeceased by his son Keith Johns (1995) and 8 brothers and sisters. Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3:30 pm. Fourth degree Knights of Columbus and third degree Council #1412 Prayers will be held at 7:30 pm Thursday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1 PM in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Joe was a founding member of the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham Kent, a charter member of the Goodfellows, Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a founding member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Children’s Camp. Special thanks to his caregivers Irene and Lisa. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Vincent de Paul Children’s Camp, the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham Kent and masses to Blessed Sacrament Church would be appreciated.
