At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Monday, November 10, 2014, Helen Mary Gardner, in her 95th year, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Murray Gardner (1987) was welcomed peacefully into the arms of Jesus. Born on December 24, 1919, daughter of the late Antonina Machek and John Hanaka and predeceased by 6 brothers, 1 sister. Loving mother of Jane (Norm) Boismier, Patricia (late-Jack) Bonner, Gerry (Chris), Jim (Landis), Randy (Marlene) and predeceased by son Tim (2002). Sadly missed by 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 22 great, great grandchildren. Helen loved her family, especially babies and her 2 cats. She was always curious to learn new things and found joy in the simple things in life. “Horticultural Helen” loved gardening and was famous for her cabbage rolls, little pranks, jokes and riddles. Helen, “Grandma Gardner”, could always make people smile and feel loved. She will be deeply missed by many. Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S., Chatham on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm where Vigil prayers will be offered at 3 pm. Rosary will be said at 6:30 pm. Further visitation offered at the funeral home Friday morning from 9 – 9:45 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Donations to C-K Hospice would be appreciated.
