Obituary of Marie Gerber

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peacefully, at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, Chatham, on Monday, November 10, 2014, Marie Josephine Gerber, age 97, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Lyle Gerber (1997). Born in Saskatchewan, daughter of the late Marie and Frank Mindorff. Greatly loved and missed by her daughter Mary Anne (Doug) Hodgson and her grandsons Matt (Lindsey), Adam, and Dave (Kristy) all of Chatham, her son Frank Gerber (Judy) and her grandsons Greg (Kaitlyn) and Colin (Laurena), all of Unionville. Survived by her sister Angela O’Neil and her brother Gerard Mindorff. Predeceased by her sisters Catherine Roesch, Sister Rose Mindorff of the St. Joseph’s Sisters, and Claudia Haslam, brothers Frank and Bob Mindorff. Marie was a veteran of WWII and served in the Air Force. Marie worked tirelessly on the farm in Harwich Township, caring for her family and tending to a large vegetable garden until her late eighties. She loved nothing more than cooking for those she loved (her chicken dumplings and cinnamon buns have never been matched!) and many Sunday dinners followed by games of cards were enjoyed by all. Marie’s faith was an integral part of her life. She was a life-long member of St. Joseph’s Parish and was a 50 year member of the Harwich CWL. Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 2 – 4 PM and 7 – 9 PM, where C.W.L. Prayers will be offered at 3 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11 AM in St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Donations to Outreach for Hunger would be appreciated.
