Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Monday, July 21, 2014, Ladislav “Laddie” Mikulica, of Chatham, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Anne (Motycka) Mikulica. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1924, son of the late Frances and Method Mikulica.
Loving father of Barbara Poole of Uxbridge, Larry (Irene) Mikulica, and Ginny (Bob) O’Neill both of Chatham. Dearest grandfather of Allan (Tracey) Poole, Kim Poole McQuiggan, Kali Mikulica-Zapfe (Brendan), Amy O’Neill, Eric O’Neill, Andrew Bourdeau (Donnay), Meghan Bourdeau and great grandfather of Ethan and Aaron Poole, Katie and Sammy McQuiggan and Carter Zapfe. Much loved father-in-law of Paul Bourdeau and brother-in-law of Peter and Lillian Buis as well as several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by daughter Nancy Bourdeau, brother Mickey Mikulica and son-in-law Al Poole.
Laddie proudly served in the R.C.A.F. during WWII; was a member of Legion Branch 28, and the Sertoma Club. He was an avid sportsman, and coached minor hockey for over 25 years, as well as sponsored and coached ladies Slo-Pitch. He was the mender of soles at Laddie’s Shoe Repair for over 50 years.
Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10 AM in St. Ursula’s Church. Friends and family are invited to arrive at St. Ursula’s Church at 9:30 AM for Tributes of Remembrance. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
