Obituary of Rosemary Zimmer

Sister Rosemary entered Eternal Life on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Villa Angela in Chatham, Ontario. She was born in Chatham, Ontario in 1932, the daughter of the late Bertha (Dillon) and Aloysius Zimmer. She entered the Ursulines of the Chatham Union in 1949. During her religious life she served as Registered Nurse in Windsor, Chatham and Edmonton. While living at St. Angela’s House in Chatham, Sr. Rosemary also worked at the Women’s Centre and the Pearson Centre. In 1988 she served on a committee who established the first Food Bank in Chatham. For many years she was an active member of the Charismatic Prayer Group. Gradually Sr. Rosemary’s health declined. She is survived by her sister Bertha Vickerd of London and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings Gladys Emery, Dorothy Thompson, Patricia Wilson, Morley, Raymond, Herbert, Ivan Zimmer, Angela O’Rourke and Phyllis Jenkins. Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, 20 Merici Way, Chatham. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, Chatham. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Sister Rosemary may be made to “Chatham Ursuline Charities” or to the charity of your choice.
