Obituary of Marcel Deturck

At his Residence in Chatham, on Wednesday March 12, 2014, Marcel René Deturck, age 81, of Chatham, beloved husband of Mary (DeRuiter) Deturck. Born in Roesburge, Belgium in 1932, son of the late Godlieve Boone and Fredrick Deturck. Marcel came to Canada in 1957 and upon moving to Chatham he and his wife Mary opened the Country Kitchen. Later they would own and operate Marcel’s Catering. He had a love for his family and grandchildren and his many friends he made along the way. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Loving father of Rose Peseski and her husband Ron and Lisa Deturck of Chatham. Cherished grandfather of Erik, Matthew, Zachary, Bailey, Carter, Jennifer and Hana. Dear brother-in-law of Bintje Deturck in Belgium. Also sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Belgium and Canada. Marcel was the last surviving member of his family. Predeceased by his brother André (1994) and sister Germaine (2010).

Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Sunday March 16, 2014 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday March 17, 2014 at 10:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Church.

Cremation will follow with burial of ashes in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations to Canadian Food for Children and Outreach for Hunger would be appreciated.
