Obituary of Olga O’Rourke

Peacefully surrounded by family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, on Thursday September 8, 2016, Olga Mary O’Rourke, of Austrian-Ukrainian decent is predeceased by her husband Gregory Joseph O’Rourke (1987) and parents Maxalena (Lena) (Pellech) and Mylan (Mike) Nicholson (Nykolyszyn) who were among the first Austrian-Ukrainian Immigrants to settle in Kent County in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
Olga was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Catholic Women’s League (city).
Olga’s greatest love was her family, whom she adored with all her heart. She was former owner/partner of O’Rourke’s Variety and Antiques, at the corner of Edgar and Queen St., retiring in the summer of 1973.
Loving mother of James (Lillian), Timothy (Beverley), Daniel (Mary) and Colleen Campbell (David). Sadly missed by grandchildren; Sherry, Karen, James, Shawn, Kimberly, Brian, Carey and Christopher and great grandchildren; Caden, Nina, Stephanie, Nicklaus, Gregory, Brandi-Lee, Laura, Heather, Jillian, Kathleen, Brandon, Jennifer, Jane, Nicole, Jennifer Lynn, Samantha and Rebecca Nelson and Alex Fozard and great great grandmother of Landon. Also sadly missed by her God children Beverley and Karen. Predeceased by her god daughter Sonya Alexandroff Khoury and her siblings; Nicholas, John, William, Ann (Pomajba) and Mary (Alexandroff).
Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Friday September 9, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers and Catholic Women’s League prayers will be offered at 3 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday September 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or the Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated.
