Obituary of Margaret Rose Eckert

Eckert, Sister Margaret Rose (Margaret Helena) entered Eternal Life on Wednesday morning, May 25, 2016 at Villa Angela in Chatham, Ontario. She entered the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham in 1940. During those years she served as a homemaker in Chatham, Tilbury, London, Bradford, Mt. Carmel, Wallaceburg, Stratford, London and Essex. She was an active member of the Charismatic Prayer Group. Since 1981 Sister Margaret Rose volunteered as a visitor to the sick and elderly in Strathroy. She supported many families as she accompanied people during the final stages of their life journey. She moved to “The Pines” in 2004 and later to Villa Angela in 2006. She was born in Dublin, Ontario in 1923, the daughter of the late John and Louise (Flanagan) Eckert. She is survived by her siblings, Cecilia Ryan, Theresa Kelly, Rita & Keith Kelly and Michael as well as sisters-in-law, Marie, Betty and Merlyn Eckert. She is predeceased by her siblings John, Joseph, Sister Mary O.S.U, Annie Cronin, James, Fred and Jerry. Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, 20 Merici Way, Chatham. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, Chatham. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Sister Margaret Rose may be made to “Chatham Ursuline Charities” or to the charity of your choice.
