Obituary of Don Zimmer

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus, on Wednesday September 14, 2016, Donald Marcus Zimmer, age 85, of Chatham, beloved husband of 58 years to Patricia “Pat” (Quinlan) Zimmer. Born in Chatham in 1930, son of the late Adella “Eva” (Goudreau) and Marcus Zimmer. Don farmed all his life in Harwich Township and was happiest when he was on the farm surrounded by family and friends. Loving father of Greg (Kathy), Chris (Paula), Joe (Laurie) and Tom (Lisa). Proud and dearest grandpa to Ashley (Scott) Folkard, Tyler (Stacy), Trent (Ashley) and Aaron Zimmer, Katie (Sid) Vilaranda, Joey (Alexis) and Nick Zimmer, Ryan (Madison) and Kyle Zimmer. Loving great grandfather to Jaxson and Sawyer Folkard and Logan Zimmer. Dear brother of Lorne (Helen) Zimmer and sisters, Lorraine (Gerald “Sam”) Fuerth, Dianne (Firmin) Dejonghe and by sisters-in-law Marjorie Fuerth, Helen Oleck, Jean Maitre, Grace Maitre, Ruth Quinlan, Vera Quinlan, Pat Quinlan, Trudy Quinlan, and by brother-in-law Larry (Carol) Quinlan. Predeceased by his brother and sisters-in-law Rita and Jimmie McIntyre, Charlie and Maxine Quinlan, John (Butch) Fuerth, Ed Oleck, Leonard Maitre, Father Chris Quinlan, Ray Maitre, Paul Quinlan. He will also be greatly missed by several nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on September 16, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday September 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in Old St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
