Obituary of Sr. Rita Dietrich
Dietrich, Sister Rita (Rita Magdalene) formerly Sister St. Louis entered Eternal Life on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Villa Angela in Chatham, Ontario. She was born in Dashwood in 1921, the daughter of the late Noah and Christina (Foster) Dietrich.
She entered the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham in 1940. During those years she served as a teacher and principal in Dublin, Stratford, Tecumseh, Strathroy, London, Chatham, Parkhill and Bradford. Upon retirement from teaching, Sister Rita did pastoral work in London, Stratford and Strathroy. Sister Rita also taught English to new Canadians.
She is survived by her sister Martina Glavin of Parkhill, her brother Stephen (Josephine) of Dashwood and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by sisters, Mary and Sister Dominica, OSU and brothers Benedict, Eugene, Hubert and Louis.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, 20 Merici Way, Chatham.
The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, Chatham. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
