Obituary of Zoe Romanie Delrue

Please share a memory of Zoe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With love and gratitude, joy and sorrow, we say goodbye to a beautiful, loving, caring, "one of a kind" woman.

Zoe Romanie Delrue, just 71 days shy of her 100th birthday, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chatham Kent Hospice on January 19th, 2018.

Zoe was the beloved wife of the late Cyriel Delrue (1966) and the daughter of the late Eliza and Adolf Delanghe.  She will be sadly missed by her children, Oscar (Joann) Delrue, George (Madeleine) Delrue, Gerard (Eileen) Delrue, Doreen (Gary) Warwick, and Brenda Delrue (Tim McDowell), 15 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren. Zoe is survived by her brother George (Madeline) Delanghe,sisters-in-law Violet and Annette Delanghe and many nieces and nephews.   Predeceased by her great grandson Kyle James (2013), her brothers, Maurice, Julian, Romain and Henry, her sisters, Martha Caryn, Julianna Lesy and Mary Delaey.

Zoe was born in France in 1918 and moved to Canada when she was 12 years old. She loved school and wanted to become a school teacher but circumstances wouldn't allow it.  Instead she became a "teacher of life", always helping others, being grateful, looking at the positive in life and never missing an opportunity to say a kind word. During her lifetime, Zoe wore many hats:  a daughter, a sister, a farmer, a mother, a barkeeper, a lukken maker, a grandmother, a great grandmother, friend to many and Grandma Zoe to all.

We will love you, miss you and never forget you, as your loving spirit lives on within us!
