Obituary of Marie Lacina

Peacefully, at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, Chatham, on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, Stella "Marie" Lacina, age 87, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late John George Lacina (2006). 

Born in St. Catharines, daughter of the late Lucy and Wilfred Garrett.  She will be sadly missed by her children Judith (Don) Brisbin, John (Irene), Paul (Sharon), and Mary Beth (Anthony) Strong, her grandchildren, Sarah, Geoff, Danny, Jacob, Jenna, Elizabeth, Daisy, Joey and Sophia. 

Marie will also be missed by her sisters-in-law Georgina Lacina, June Lacina, and Fran Landry and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her brother Wilfred Garrett, sister Isabelle Yendt, brothers-in-law Charles Lacina, Dennis Landry, and Clare Yendt and sister-in-law Sally Garrett.  

 Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many.  She was active in many leadership roles within the community of St. Agnes, C.W.L., St. Joseph’s Nurses Alumni and a founding member of the Pines Mothers’ Club.  She was a compassionate nurse and willingly gave of her time.  She loved the company of others and had a ready smile for everyone.  Special thanks to all staff at Riverview Gardens for their loving care and support of the family. 

Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10 am in St. Agnes' Church.

 Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimers Society or St. Vincent de Paul would be appreciated.
