Obituary of Martha and Doug Lloyd

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Martha Lloyd (nee Cours) on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, and the passing of Douglas Joseph Lloyd on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, both at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus.

Martha, in her 86th year, lived in Chatham and formerly Romney Township.  Born in Windsor in 1934, she was the daughter of the late Martha (DeRauw) and Emile Cours.  She was predeceased by sister-in-law Elta Cours and brother Gerard Cours, and step-sister Lydia (Selis) and Lydia’s husband, Joseph Leszczynski.  

Douglas, in his 84th year, lived in Chatham and Windsor.  Born in 1936, he was the son of the late Edna (Kearns) and Ivan Lloyd.

Martha and Doug were the loving parents of Veronica Lloyd and Michael Lloyd, and cherished grandparents of Amanda (and her spouse Rob) and Courtney (and her spouse Aaron). Also sadly missed by daughter-in-law Angela, Doug's sister Judy Tierney, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Married almost 63 years, Doug and Martha were seldom apart.  Martha, gentle but determined, enjoyed flowers, cooking, celebrating holidays, and rides in the country. Doug, a former mechanic, loved antique cars and tractors, woodworking and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Friends and relatives may visit at Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Friday July 5, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 6, 2019 at 11am in St. Agnes Church.

Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
