Obituary of Gerard Kok
Passed away peacefully at the Chatham Kent Hospice on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.
He has joined his life long love Georgette Kok who passed away on February 3, 2017.
They were a true love story that endured more than half a century and now they will continue that story together. Gerard was born in Tilburg, Holland to mother Helena Kok and father Gerardus Kok.
He had three siblings Netty V.D.Berg, wife of Gerard V.D.Berg; Coby Van Irsel, wife of Jack Van Irsel and Riet Franken, wife of Theo Franken. Gerry, as he was known, spent the last several years living at the Village on the Thames, Grand Ave., Chatham. He loved his small apartment there and all the friends and staff he met there.
It was a very loving and caring environment. Gerry’s surviving nieces and nephews locally are Diane (Dan) Gagner, Rose (Bob) McClymont, Gary Callens and Allan Callens, all of Chatham-Kent.
As were his wishes, cremation will take place and a Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date.
The Chatham Kent Hospice performed a special honour ceremony that was both beautiful and thoughtful. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Chatham Kent Hospice who made his last days easier and to the staff at Village on the Thames for their loving care these past few years. Should you want to do something special on behalf of my Uncle Gerry then consider donating to the Chatham Kent Hospice---the second day there my Uncle said “this is wonderful and beautiful” and it was a reflection of his first days without severe pain in a peaceful, caring environment.
The Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home Ltd. 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) is in charge of arrangements.
