Obituary of Gerald McDonnell
Peacefully, at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, on Friday, December 6, 2019, Gerald "Jerry" McDonnell, age 86, of Chatham, Ontario, beloved husband of the late Anne (Bagnell)(2009). Born in Wardsville, son of the late Barbara and James McDonnell.
Surrounded by his children, Patricia, Mike (Kim Hamelin) of Windsor, Marie (Mark) Woodall, Colleen, Kathy (John) Hindi of LaSalle, Karen (Carl) Baillargeon of Tecumseh, Sharon, Peggy (Joe Burns) of Strathroy, and Shawn, daughter-in-law Lori (Baillargeon) McDonnell of Windsor. Deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jordan and Nathan McDonnell, Tiffany, Matthew, James, Tammy, Chelsea and Andrew Woodall, Baby Heather (1985), Tanya, Nicole, Stephanie and Jonathan Hindi, Marc, Paul, Adam and Eric Baillargeon, step grandchildren, Ashely, Jocelyn Mitchell, and 11 great grandchildren.
Dear brother of Phil (Mary Jean) McDonnell and Eileen Countryman. Brother-in-law of Anne McDonnell, Evelyn and Charles Montpetit of Tilbury and Teresa Bagnell of Grande Pointe. Predeceased by his siblings, Irene Tunstall, Mary Belanger, Margaret Semchism, Tom, Dan, John, J.D. and Dennis McDonnell, in-laws Horace and Evalina Bagnell, Angela, Herb Bagnell, Eileen Kelly Crosby, John Tunstall, Ralph Belanger, Peter Semchism, Francis Countryman, and Pat Cragg.
Jerry was a member of St. Agnes Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was an employee of International Harvester (Navistar) for 46 years. He loved playing cards and bowling. Lately he spent his days participating at the Alzheimers and St. Andrew’s Day Out Programs. Go Chicago!
Friends and relatives may visit at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 2 -4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 10 am in St. Agnes Church.
Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
