With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Marie Ann Holmes, 87, of Chatham, Ontario on March 3, 2020 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Marie passed peacefully with her loving children by her side.
She was born in Chatham, Ontario November 7, 1932, daughter of the late Anastasia (Tomecek) and John Cibulka.
Marie will be greatly missed by her children, Carol Campbell (Kim), David Holmes (Elaine), and Diane (Chute) Harwood (Robert). Loving grandmother to Kelly Bear (Anthony), Robert Campbell, Mark Campbell, Daniel Chute, Ryan Chute and Mitchell Holmes. Dearest Great Grandma of Bryce, Sadie and Adalie.
Marie will also be missed sister and best friend Anne Kominek (Robert), sister, Georgina Oprsal, and brother in law John Vsetula, Son in law, Brian Chute and many nieces and nephews. Marie is predeceased by a brother Joseph Cibulka and sister Helen Vsetula. Marie was an avid gardener and took great pride in her gardens and her home.
She loved working outside and had a great love of animals. Marie was well known from working at Buns Master Bakery in Chatham for many, many years.
Marie’s beautiful smile and caring demeanor resonated with customers who lovingly gave her the title of the “Buns Master Lady”. She had many talents including, interior decorating and her talent for making the most beautiful flower arrangements many of which are proudly displayed in the homes of family and friends.
Marie was extremely devoted to her family and proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to attend events in support of her family and took great delight watching her great granddaughters dance.
A private family funeral service will be held at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120).
Cremation afterwards, with burial of ashes at a later date.
