Peacefully surrounded by family at his residence in Chatham, on Saturday April 4, 2020, Antonio “Tony” Ferrara, age 79 of Chatham, beloved husband of Frances (Faraci) Ferrara, was strong to the end in his three year battle with cancer.
Born in Sicily (Italy) in 1940, son of the late Caterina (Lipari) and Baldassare Ferrara.
Loving father of Ross (Gina) Ferrara, Cathy (Rodney) Burns and Joseph (Martin) Ferrara. Cherished grandfather of Spencer Burns, Sydney Burns, Samantha Burns, Alyssa Ferrara and Antonio Ferrara.
Dear younger brother of Giuseppina Amato and Sebastian (Giuseppina) Ferrara, and older brother of Rosa Amato and Ignatius “Ignazio” (Susan) Ferrara.
Predeceased by brothers-in-law: Frank Amato (2017) and Salvatore Amato (2012).
Due to social distancing requirements, there will be no public visitation or mass; private family only.
In lieu of visitation the family would prefer donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A memorial mass in remembrance of Tony will be held at a later date in St. Joseph’s Church.
Burial will be in Maple Leaf Mausoleum.
