Peacefully, at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Facility, Chatham, on Friday, June 5, 2020, Vera Laura Couture, age 92, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Leonard Lernout (1990) and Charles Couture (2013).
Born in Belgium, daughter of the late Romaine and Oscar Velle.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Pat (Leo) Verhart, Jim (Rita) Lernout, and Laurie (Marcel) Lassaline. Also sadly missed by her 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one on the way, many nieces and nephews and her daughter-in-law Rose Ann Lernout.
Predeceased by her son, George Lernout (2018), her sister, Margaret Vandeweghe, and her brother Maurice Velle.
Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, a private family visitation will be held. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
A funeral mass will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Alzheimers Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
