Obituary of Diane Jeanne Allaer

Please share a memory of Diane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Diane Jeanne Allaer, age 80, passed away on July 12, 2020 peacefully at her home in Grosse Pointe Woods. Born in Pain Court, Ontario, Canada, Diane was the youngest of 9 children in the late William and Febranie Blair’s proud family. Beloved mother of Michael, Deborah Gates, Suzanne and Robert (Elizabeth). Dearest “Meme” to Timothy (Kristy), Shalon (Ryan), Rochelle (Kenny), Jessica, Danielle (Rich), Sasha, Ryan, Romeo, Febranie, Cameron, Nolan, and Austin. Proud great-grandmother to Celia, Penelope, Caroline, Davena, Luella, Noella. Beloved wife to the late Lucien, and loving companion to late Lafe Williams Jr. She also rejoins her siblings Luella Caron, Clara Willmore, Clarise Myers, Reg, Gord, Bill, Jim and Roland Blair in peace in heaven. Diane was truly an inspirational woman. Shortly after they married, Diane and Lucien worked together in an auto repair shop where she became the first woman mechanic in Ontario. After they moved their family to Michigan, Diane continued breaking down barriers, working side by side with her husband in Grosse Pointe Park and raising a family at the same time. Their love of antiques also inspired a side business of collecting and restoring old furniture, clocks and dolls. Diane continued her work in the automotive field and was a fixture at JL Schroth company in Warren until her retirement in 2005. Her retirement was filled with many precious moments with her family. She enjoyed taking long road trips with JR, and going on a few big trips to places she always wanted to visit. In the last eight years, she enjoyed becoming a “snowbird”, splitting her time between Florida and Michigan, and being able to visit with family and friends in both places. In Florida, she was always recognized by the pink golf cart with eyelashes she would proudly cruise around the neighborhood. In Michigan, it was her sporty Mini Cooper with a Minnie mouse antenna. Both matched her personality perfectly. Diane leaves behind a huge number of friends and family that will miss her spunk, her laugh and her shenanigans. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her name. Burial will take place on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11 AM in Riverview Cemetery.
